Why I Believe in God and His only begotten Son:
1. I tried for years to live my life without Him. It didn't work.
2. I believe that the Bible is the word of God.
Too many people believe in God but question the words in the Bible. "It's just men's opinions, hear-say, myths, made-up stories." I often ask such nay-sayers if they believe that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing, creator they hear about in church? Most say yes to this question. How is it then, that this same God --that you admit is so powerful--doesn't seem to have the ability to create and pass-down, through men, a book of words to future generations?
3. Prophesy
Anyone who reads and studies the Word knows that "chance or luck" can never explain how events prophesied in the Bible became reality. I use to think that Jesus was an incredibly smart individual who knew the Old Testament so well that he created situations that allowed him to fulfill the scriptures. After much study, I realize how foolish that thinking was. Bottom line, people who mock prophecy, don't know prophecy.
4. The Apostles
Why would any man give his life for a lie? Picture this: The Philadelphia Eagles just defeat the Dallas Cowboys 50-0. On the way out of the stadium, a Cowboy fan begins to hoot and holler how the Cowboys just crushed the Eagles. He taunts the Eagle fans, bragging all the way to his car how his team just smashed the pathetic Eagles. A fight breaks out and the Cowboy fan lays in the street bleeding. Does he get up and continue to proclaim the lie? Does he do it to death? Does he do it to so well that other Cowboy fans join him and anounce the same lie?
5. The Jews
No group of people has ever endored so much. The fact that the Jews maintained their religious customs, mores, and overall identity despite 2000 years without a homeland speaks volumes about God's sovereignty.
6. Creation
Nothing starts from nothing.
